TWO people who died when their car collided with a bus in West Wickham have been named by police.

They were Luke Mort, 23, of Selby Road, Anerley, and Charlotte Simpson (also known as Charlotte Sollis), 21, of Crampton Road, Penge.

Mr Mort was driving the car at the time of the accident and pronounced dead at the scene of the collision in Corkscrew Hill at 12.20am on Sunday (October 26).

Backseat passenger Ms Simpson was taken to the Princess Royal University Hospital, Farnborough, where she later died.

The post mortem examination gave the cause of death as internal bleeding.

An inquest into their deaths is expected to be opened this afternoon (October 29).

A second female, in her twenties, also a rear passenger, remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Two other females in the car were also taken to hospital.

One was discharged on Sunday night after being treated for minor injuries and the other was discharged today after treatment to facial injuries.

The bus driver was treated for shock but no-one travelling on the double decker was thought to be injured.

At this stage it is not thought any other vehicles were involved.

The collision investigation unit at Hampton Traffic Garage is investigating the incident.

Any witnesses or anyone with any information should call the police on 020 8941 9011.
