Cardiff City 2-0 Charlton

A BRACE from Ross McCormack condemned nine man Charlton to a 2-0 defeat at Ninian Park.

The Scottish forward fired home after 18 minutes after goalkeeper Nicky Weaver could only parry from Peter Whittingham.

And well the Addicks will rue several missed chances in the first half which were followed by two red cards after the interval.

Firstly half-time substitute Jose Semedo saw red for bringing down McCormack as the last man five minutes into his appearance.

The offence occurred right on the edge of the box and McCormack smashed home the free-kick for his ninth of the campaign.

The afternoon went from bad to worse for Alan Pardew’s men as skipper Mark Hudson joined Semedo after picking up two yellow cards within three minutes for fouls on Paul Parry and Jay Bothroyd.

A late consolation was denied by Whittingham’s goalmouth clearance before a number of white shirts could pounce.

The result propels Cardiff to fourth place in the Championship but leaves Charlton with just one win in the last five games.
