POLICE are hunting a pervert accused of assaulting an eight-year-old girl.

At around 9am on September 30 the girl was walking down Rangefield Road, Bromley, when a man stepped out of some bushes as she reached the junction with Bonville Road.

The suspect started talking to the girl, put his arm on her shoulder and stroked her thigh.

He told her to come and get in his car because her mother had asked him to pick her up.

The victim ran away.

The suspect is described as a white man, aged between 40 and 50, about 5ft 6in tall, of medium build, with short, dirty, greasy, grey hair, grey stubble and hazel eyes. He was wearing a brown long-sleeved top and green trousers.

Anyone with information should contact Bromley police Detective Constable Will Hope on 020 8284 8868 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

as though they are in some way to blame? sorry, but it should be safe for an 8 year old to walk at 9am (or any other time for that matter!)

Yes they are to blame. I have a 8 year old who goes to school on the same road we live on and you know what - i sure as hell am not letting her travel to school on her own. It only take a split second for someone to do something to a child. We do not live 'back in the day' anymore. Our streets are not safe for the children to walk alone and if more parents realised this then there would be less children being abused.

my daughter goes to the school where this incident happened, she often walks this way to school, and i am disgusted that this happened two weeks ago and was not informed by tha school itself, by doing this they are putting other children at risk.

rangefield school is in the same road and wasn't informed of what had happened, and when they was informed they didn't even tell the parents. i was told by a friend whose children go to Burnt Ash School and i had to go to the school and let them know what had happened, and they said they didn't know anything about it. I think the police should of let all schools and nurserys in the area know, this is a disgrace as police are suppose to serve the public and not the criminal.
