A RESIDENTS' group is continuing its demands for a bail hostel to be moved.
The Meadows Area Panel organised the 221-signature petition to get the hostel moved from Chestnut Close, Catford, which has been presented to Mayor of Lewisham Sir Steve Bullock.
It is run by property managers ClearSpings for low-risk offenders either on bail or early release, under contract from the Ministry for Justice.
Panel chairman Jane Duffy said: “We just want it to be moved.
“It’s not the principle of bail hostels we object to, it’s the location.”
Miss Duffy said residents had been to see Lewisham East MP and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice Bridget Prentice.
She said: “We’re not just sitting back on this.
“The occupants have been causing mayhem.”
Sir Steve has written to Justice Minister David Hanson saying the council was not properly consulted on the hostel’s location.
