This weekend I've learnt that living with your girlfriend and being addicted to playing a video game, is not a good mix.

When I bought my Playstation 3, it came with 2 games. The first was Motorstorm, which is pretty much a racing game and does not require much attention – you can pop it in, play it for 10 minutes and then switch it off. The other game however, is an action adventure called “Uncharted: Drake's Fortune”.

With games that are plot driven, I tend to save them for one of those days when I know I have nothing to do and nowhere to go.

Good Friday was one of those days - I wake up and I am feeling rough. My eyes are stinging and I have nose that is running like Niagara Falls. Right then and there, I decide that I am going to have a lazy day and do nothing but sit in front of the TV. At some point during the day, I take “Uncharted: Drake's Fortune” off the shelf and insert it into the PS3.

It is addictive, fun and has a compelling plot that pulls you straight in - which is great when you are stuck indoors, on your own with a snotty cold, but not so great when your girlfriend comes home from work and is asking you questions.

Apparently, it took me 25 minutes to answer a question, which I swear only seemed like 5 seconds (time seems to fly past when you're searching for gold and shooting evil pirates). Needless to say, Holly wasn't impressed with me – at this point I decided to keep it to myself that I had been playing the game for nearly 4 hours.

Anyway, yesterday, much to Holly's relief, I completed “Uncharted: Drake's Fortune”. Which is great (I haven't completed a game in years!), but slightly disappointing as I now need a new PS3 game to play.

Thank god pay day is coming up this week!
