A PATIENT who absconded from care and is known to have strong links with Catford, is a convicted sex offender warn police.

Owen Rose was last seen at 3pm on October 2 in Denmark Hill, when he fled from a vehicle taking him to secure accommodation in Camberwell.

The 27-year-old was in the care of mental health services and was being taken to secure accommodation when he escaped.

Rose had been sentenced to a hospital order with restrictions in May 2005 after he was convicted of attempted rape and sexual assault on a woman.

He was released in 2006, but was being taken back into secure accommodation because he is believed to have breached conditions attached to his release.

Police say they are concerned about Rose's mental state because he does not have any medication with him and warn that he should not be approached.

Rose - who is Afro-Caribbean, 6ft tall and of heavy build - is known to have strong links to the Catford area and also to Lambeth and Croydon.

He has a shaven head with stubble and when last seen, he was wearing a red and white T shirt with red squares on it and blue jeans.

Anyone who has any information or believes they have seen Rose, should contact Croydon Police on 020 8649 0090 - or for an immediate sighting call 999.
