1919 - KLM was established in Holland. It is now the world's oldest existing airline.
1954 - IBM demonstrated the first calculator.
1978 - The Rolling Stones appeared on Saturday Night Live.
2000 - Brit Mark Tracy took the individual title at the World Conker Championships.
2002 - The FBI joined the hunt for a sniper who was shooting people in the Washington DC area. The gunmen seemed to be targeting people at random, and firing from a distance.
2003 - Arnold Schwarzenegger was elected Governor of California.
