A BURGLAR was caught hanging upside down from the top of a window after getting stuck while trying to break into a home.

John Pearce pleaded guilty to the break-in in Fulwich Road, Dartford, and asked for 12 similar matters to be taken into consideration when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on September 19.

He had 48 previous convictions for similar offences.

Pearce was found hanging from the window with a hammer in his hand He claimed he was not stealing but had been trying to stop burglars.

Onlookers refused to help Pearce and police and paramedics eventually released him.

Mark Dacey, mitigating, said the 32-year-old committed the offence on August 14 because of his heroin addiction.

Judge Martin Joy adjourned sentencing him until October 10.

Pearce, of Browning Road, Dartford, was remanded in custody.
