A SCHOOL has installed solar panels in a bid to conserve energy and cut electricity bills.
Lucas Vale Primary School, Thornville Street, Deptford, had £30,000 worth of panels installed on September 16.
Headteacher Alexandra Hardy says they will also be used for educational purposes.
She said: "Pupils will be able to monitor a screen below the panels which shows how much energy is being produced. They can then calculate how much money and energy is being saved.
"In the long term, we should save money and are investigating the possibility of selling any excess energy we produce back to the National Grid."
The panels were mostly paid for by Lewisham Council, with the school also contributing to the cost.
