BEXLEY'S award-winning film club for teenagers has moved to a new home.

After five years at Welling School, in Elsa Road, Pointless Taxi Productions is now based at St Catherine's Catholic Girls' School.

The school in Watling Street, Bexleyheath, is a specialist media and arts college.

The club was set up to give young people an activity to keep them off the streets in the evenings and at weekends.

It is now commissioned by a variety of local and national organisations to make films which give a young person's perspective on national issues.

The club was also instrumental in organising Bexleys's first-ever film festival earlier this year, where it won the award for best community film.

Open to anyone in Bexley aged between 14 and 19, the club is always looking for new members.

Several former members have used their film-making experience to gain places at colleges and universities.

One member, camera operator Syd Heather, said: "Film-making is about teamwork and we need people to write, produce and direct, as well as technical types.

"I have learnt so much by being a member of Pointless Taxi, but the best bit is it is fun."

The club meets on Wednesdays at the school from 4pm to 7pm.
