PARENTS and their children have a new fun way to learn about healthy food and getting fit.

A free 10-week programme, MEND, has been launched at Erith leisure centre, in Avenue Road, Erith.

The programme, being run by leisure operator Parkwood Leisure, is aimed at helping children aged between seven and 13 who are above the ideal weight for their age.

It has been developed by health experts to enable children and their parents to learn how to be fit and healthy, and Parkwood says the programme has proven, long-lasting results.

Twice a week for two hours children will be able to take part in games, activities and swimming.

There are also interactive discussions for parents to teach easy and effective ways to improve their children's behaviour and self-confidence.

And there are practical demonstrations, games and tips on healthy food, food label reading and portion sizes.

The sessions are on Mondays from 4.30pm to 6.30pm and Wednesdays from 4pm to 6pm.

Places are limited.

For more information, call the centre on 01322 350271.
