RESIDENTS and businesses will have their say on the feasibility of a booze ban after council bosses approved plans for a consultation.
The Orpington Safer Neighbourhood team applied for an alcohol control zone in Orpington high street after 31 reports of alcohol-related crimes between January and June this year, including underage drinking, urination in public and booze-fuelled assaults.
Talking about the plans for the new zone, head of community safety at Bromley Council Colin Newman said: "We do not take these decisions lightly and will make sure they are considered, proportionate and relevant to the needs of the community."
Bromley Council's portfolio holder for public protection and safety, Councillor Colin Bloom, decided to launch the consultation at a meeting yesterday evening (September 24).
