Bus and tube fares to rise

BUS and tube fares will go up next year to above the rate of inflation.

For Oyster card holders a single bus fare will increase by 10p to £1 but singles paid in cash remain the same at £2.

A one day bus pass on Oyster and tram passes are up from £3 to £3.30 with the printed ticket remaining at £3.50.

Oyster card tube fares remain the same as does a cash fare single in zone one, although singles outside central London will go up to £3.20.

Freedom passes will be valid 24 hours a day instead of only outside peak time.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: "Some of us will pay a little more but I have ensured fares will remain affordable, especially for people who rely on public transport most."
