Teenager killed in floods

A 17-YEAR-OLD from Thamesmead has died after the 4x4 she was travelling in overturned in heavy floods.

The teenager was killed after the vehicle rolled over and plunged into a river at the Powys-Ceredigion border in mid-Wales.

Reports suggest flood water from the river had caused the vehicle to "lose its footing" and roll into the river at around 5.45pm on Friday (September 5).

The girl, who has not been named, was airlifted to hospital by RAF helicopter along with two friends.

She died in hospital and the other two casualties were kept in overnight suffering from hypothermia and shock.

It is said that the girl was on her last day of an adventure holiday when the accident happened.
