Relief, satisfaction, serenity - all feelings mutually shared by the Yr10s of Langton Girls’ following the end of their Yr10 Mock exams!

Subsequent to a jam-packed Easter holiday consumed with revision guides, workbooks, flashcards and of course past papers, for two weeks from 15th April, the Yr10s of Langton Girls’ sat their first ever GCSE mocks!

Throughout those two weeks, the Yr10s were offered a valuable insight to what it would be like, sitting their real GCSE exams next year, from art exams to history, english and sciences. These exams served as an opportunity for students to discern the most effective revision methods for themselves– whether they might be flashcards, blurting, practice questions, or all in combination, the mocks allowed the students to see such for themselves and how they could better their grades through use of them.

Nonetheless, to describe the mocks as hard would have to be an understatement, it was undoubtedly a challenging experience. Moreover, with many cramming in last minute revision upon arrival to school or testing their friends on the topics before entering the exam hall – the effort that was being put in was evident. Though the endless cycle of revision sometimes seemed like a tedious task – a chore - such an experience provided students preparation to work under pressure in timed conditions within the exam hall and to apply the knowledge accumulated throughout the year.

With the mocks now coming to a close, a wave of calm has certainly settled amongst the year group. Although the real exams await us next year, time as well as another set of mocks later in November offer us another opportunity to identify and rectify our areas in need of improvement!
