A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm after a stabbing near a park in Eltham.

The incident happened in Restons Crescent near Parish Park shortly after 8pm on April 20.

Officers and London Ambulance Services crews attended and found a man in his 50s injured.

He was taken to hospital for treatment where his injuries were assessed as non-life threatening.

Christopher McGill, 41, of no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on April 21.

He was charged with GBH on April 22 and was remanded to appear in custody at Woolwich Crown Court on May 21.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “A man has been charged in connection with a stabbing in Greenwich.

“Christopher McGill, 41 [7.6.82] of no fixed address, was arrested on Sunday, 21 April on suspicion of attempted murder.

“He was charged with GBH on Monday, 22 April and was remanded in custody to appear Woolwich Crown Court on Tuesday, 21 May.

“This follows an investigation by officers from Bexley – South East Command.

“Police were called shortly after 20:00hrs on Saturday, 20 April to reports of a man stabbed in the vicinity of Restons Crescent, SE9.

“Officers attended. The victim, a 50-year-old man, was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.

“His injuries were not life-threatening.”
