IT was a case of Time Team here we come, for a group of volunteers learning how to manage an archaeological dig.
The annual summer training dig, organised by Bexley Archaeological Group (Bag)was a chance to experience the thrill of finding a piece of the past at first hand.
Accompanied by trained archaeologists from Bag, 10 people, aged from 16 to late 50s, learned how to field walk an area, survey a site, make detailed drawings, carry out a controlled excavation, and process their finds.
The training dig, carried out over five days at one of BAG's ongoing sites of interest turned up shards of Roman, Saxon and medieval pottery, 18th century dressmaking pins and a 17th century tinned brass spoon.
