Beast of Bexley sighting

A BEAST of Bexley-type creature is believed to have been spotted in Thamesmead.

The sighting happened at around 3am on Saturday morning (August 9) in Goldfinch Road when a man was woken up by something screeching.

He looked out of his window and saw a small animal racing along the pathway followed by a larger one.

The man, who did not want to be named, said: "I saw a black animal rolling on the grass between two trees.

"I thought to myself, 'Bloody hell! That's the biggest moggy I've ever seen', and then thought, 'It must be a dog'.

"However, its head was cat-like and its tail was very long.

"It walked to the left to some bushes and I moved the other curtain but couldn't see it."

The sighting was reported to Neil Arnold, the founder of the Kent Big Cat Research group, which studies eyewitness reports of large exotic cats.

He believes the creature, which has become known as the Beast of Bexley, is a black leopard.

The Beast' has also been seen at Welling, Erith, Bexleyheath, Belvedere, Bromley, Abbey Wood and towards Dartford.

I seen some large black beasts rolling around in the grass this summer too!

Afterwards they laid back and lit up a reefer! Phenomenal!

It is possible, in the darkness to mistake different animals from what is actually there.One night Dobbin and I were galloping across the marshes, when, to my astonishment, right infront of us, was a large cat/bear like animal.Well, you can imagine our shock!
but, it appears that as the dawn broke, all it turned out to be, was a Yeti.

Adam, I live in Thamesmead and work very hard just like all my family who live here! My parents brought me up to work hard to enjoy life and pay my way in life. Both my husband and I work and have done since we were 16 when we could work part time whilst studying.

You obviously have a problem with Thamesmead! All my neighbours and friends work as well. Some areas of Sidcup are no better, you think you can get away with blending in with Eltham and blame all the trouble on people from Eltham!

Maybe if you see the bus stops and the station in the morning you will notice many Thamesmead residents go to work! If I was on the dole I wouldn't be at the bus stop at 6am and know this I would still be in bed!

To stevo & Adam, do either of you have any real knowledge of Thamesmead other than what you have heard? No I doubt it. I work full time and own my house I pay my mortgage and council tax along with all my other bills. All my neighbours also work. Whilst I wont deny That some parts of Thamesmead are rough and do have thier problems, dont tar all the residents with the same brush. I am as are many others hard working honest people. Every area has its problems sidcup included. Stevo as you havent given you location I can only assume its some caravan site somewhere in KENT.

this is all that happens now....story about cat sighting...everyone has an opinion on everybody else!!! whats that all about, trouble with all of us is no-one sticks together anymore, no-one covers the other persons back and there is no community spirit because its all been taken away from us and everybody just looks out for number one...its a sad fact of life now, its not JUST in thamesmead, erith, eltham etc....no wonder the cat moves around, it would probably be caught and disected......just like the rest of us

You seem so right! Only the other day I was reading on this site about a dog virus and next thing you know everyone is having a go at a woman who doesn't bother with immunisations. It seems on here everyone wants to tear each-other up! Truth is there are good people out there and many of them just read the comments, often appalled by the small minded pettiness going on, and don't bother adding a comment at all as it really isn't worth it. However there are some subjects on here that sometimes call for a response. Anyway just wanted to let you know that you not entirely right! There are so many people that are WILLING to help others and do care about how others feel. They just do not spend their time over such trivial exercises.
