Hunt for smokers who pushed commuter

OFFICERS investigating an incident where a commuter was pushed on to train tracks appealed for witnesses at the scene this morning (August 7).

They also checked trains to try and find the men who pushed Linda Buchanan on to the tracks at Farningham Road station yesterday.

The 58-year-old, from Horton Kirby, suffered a fractured wrist and bruising to her legs when she landed.

Other passengers and a member of staff pulled the woman back on to the platform and she was taken to Darent Valley Hospital, Dartford.

The pushing incident happened at 7.07am yesterday as Ms Buchanan walked along the London-bound platform at the station.

British Transport Police (BTP) believes the woman had spoken to the two men about smoking at the station earlier this week.

She was walking past the same men yesterday when one of them pushed her and she fell on to the track.

One of the men is described as being white, in his mid-20s, about 6ft tall and stocky.

He had short cropped brown hair, was wearing beige shorts, a green round-necked t-shirt and trainers.

The second man was a medium built white male in his early 20s.

He was wearing bright red shorts and a dark top.

A BTP spokesman said: "We would urge the people involved to come forward."

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact BTP on 0800 40 50 40 quoting log 83 of 6/8.
