A man has been taken to hospital with a chest injury and two people arrested following a stabbing in Lewisham.

Emergency services were called to Farrer House in Deptford Church Street at around 11.47am, following reports of a possible stabbing outside the address.

After making enquiries, police found a man with a chest injury outside Lewisham Hospital. His condition is currently unknown.

Two males were also arrested on suspicion of affray and were taken into custody at a south London police station.

Police have launched an investigation, and several crime scenes are currently in place.

In a tweet, Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust asked patients to continue using the hospital "as normal".

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “On Tuesday, 27 February at 11.47am police were called to reports of a possible stabbing outside Farrer House, Deptford Church Street, SE8.

“Officers attended and made enquiries, locating a male with a chest injury at Lewisham Hospital. We await an update on his condition and injuries.

“Two males were arrested on suspicion of affray. They were taken to a south London police station where they remain at this time.

“A number of crime scenes are in place. The investigation is ongoing.
