A fire at a derelict house in Grove Park is under police investigation after half the roof and part of the loft space was destroyed.

Firefighters from London Fire Brigade were called at 5:29pm yesterday (January 22) to the fire in Baring Road after eight calls were received.

Four fire engines and 25 firefighters were sent to the scene, with crews from Lee Green, Lewisham and Bromley fire stations despatched.

Half the roof, part of the loft and part of the roof of a two-storey detached house was damaged by the blaze.

There were no reported injuries.

A police cordon is currently in place and officers from Metropolitan Police are at the scene.

The fire was under control by 7:29pm on Monday and the cause is currently under investigation by Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire at a derelict house on Baring Road in Grove Park.

“Half of the roof, part of the loft space and part of the roof of a two-storey detached house was damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.

“The Brigade's 999 Control Officers received eight calls about the fire.

“The Brigade was called at 1729 and the fire was extinguished by 1929. Crews from Lee Green, Lewisham and Bromley fire stations attended the scene.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and Metropolitan Police.”
