A 16-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after an incident in Bexleyheath.

Police were called to reports of a disturbance involving a number of youths in Market Place at 5.25pm yesterday (January 22).

Officers attended and a boy was found suffering from a head injury. 

He was taken to hospital for further treatment where his condition was assessed as not serious.

No arrests have been made as police enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.

A section 35 dispersal order was authorised by police as a result of the incident.

It has been in place since yesterday (January 22) and will finish at 7pm tomorrow (January 24).

Section 35 gives a police constable and a community support officer in uniform the power to exclude a person from an area for a period of up to 48 hours with a police inspector’s authority.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at approximately 17:25hrs on Monday, 22 January to reports of a disturbance involving a number of youths in the vicinity of Market Place, Bexleyheath.

“One male – aged 16 – was found suffering a head injury; he was taken to hospital for treatment – his injury is not thought to be serious.

“There have been no arrests and enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.

“As a result of this incident, a section 35 Dispersal Zone covering the area has been authorised and will remain in place until 19:00hrs on Wednesday, 24 January.”
