A Metropolitan Police detective who was convicted of harassment sent naked photos of himself to his victim, it has been revealed.

Trainee Detective Constable Christopher Gibbons, 32, was found guilty of harassment after a trial in July.

In August this year he was given a ten-week prison sentence suspended for two years and was also handed a restraining order.

The court heard that he was arrested on September 25 last year after an incident of harassment took place that day.

A subsequent investigation revealed that he had been harassing the same woman for 11 days.

A misconduct hearing held earlier this month has now revealed that DC Gibbons harassed the woman while on and off duty.

The harassment involved repeatedly sending text messages including naked and semi naked photos of himself.

A misconduct report stated that while there was no suggestion of violence, the woman was left fearful and vulnerable.

She stated that she suffered emotional distress and became concerned for her safety at home and in public.

At the conclusion of the misconduct hearing DC Gibbons was dismissed from the Met.

He had been suspended from duty since he was charged in February.
