Police have charged a 22-year-old after reports of a man walking around with a machete in Mottingham.

Police were called to St Keverne Road around 6pm on Monday, August 7.

Bromley MPS said they pursued the suspect who allegedly abandoned the machete and began running away from police.

The man was detained by officers and a machete was also recovered.

Kimara Onuni, 22, of St Keverne Road, SE9, has since been charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

The weapon was subsequently seized.

Onuni is currently in custody and will appear in court at a later date.

A spokesperson for Met Police said: “Police were called to St Keverne Road in Mottingham at about 6pm on Monday 7 August following reports that a man was seen in possession of a machete.

“Officer attended and arrested a 22-year-old man. A machete was also recovered at the scene.

“Kimara Onuni, 22 (26.05.2001) of St Keverne Road, SE9 was subsequently charged with possession of an offensive weapon. He was remanded in custody to appear at court at a later date.”

Bromley MPS tweeted: “Yesterday, Response Team A responded to multiple reports of a male walking around Mottingham with a machete.

“Male was spotted running, having discarded the machete, and a foot chase ensued.

“Male arrested and charged for Possession of an Offensive Weapon and machete seized!”
