When the sun is shining and the weather is warm, the perfect way to spend an evening is to be sat outside enjoying a delicious meal.

So, we paid a visit to Rotunda - a Mexican-inspired restaurant overlooking the canal right in the heart of London.

It is only a five-minute walk from King’s Cross and right next to Coal Drops Yard.

Rotunda recently launched its Tulum terrace giving diners the chance to eat outside in the summer months with beautiful, colourful flower arrangements.

Tables at the restaurant overlook the canal - a beautiful backdrop as you can watch the sun set while you eat.

We were given a table at the edge of the terrace right next to the canal and as the sun was shining, we really felt as though we were on holiday abroad sipping wine and smelling the delicious food around us.

The service was second to none, we felt extremely looked after and the staff made sure to check in regularly.

Our waiter, Leon, was extremely welcoming, attentive and chatty, making out visit all the more special.

To start, I opted for the refried beans, tomato, olive and pico de gallo tacos.

The three mini tacos were smoky and fresh and the perfect way to start our meal.

My boyfriend went for the butcher’s bresaola which came with a rocket and parmesan salad with a Dijon mustard dressing which was rich and tasty.

We also shared the tuna tartare tacos which came with crispy shallots and avocado which were to die for.

For my main course, I opted for the market fish which on that day was hake which came with asparagus, pico de gallo and cabbage.

The fish was moist and flaky and the bed of vegetables it came on were summery and delicious – it was my ideal summer dish!

My boyfriend opted for the chargrilled rump of Texel lab, habanero, courgettes, tomato and mint yogurt which he requested to be cooked medium and it arrived blush pink at the centre, just as he wanted it to be.

Of course, we couldn’t forget dessert.

I chose to polish off my meal with the espresso martini chocolate pot which was creamy and rich with a strong coffee-flavour which, as a self-diagnosed coffee addict, I absolutely adored.

My boyfriend went for tart of the day which so happened to be a blueberry tart – his favourite fruit.

Throughout the meal, I enjoyed a variety of wines recommended by Leon which complemented my food wonderfully.

Rotunda is an incredible spot for summer and the terrace is the best one that I have visited yet in London.

The quality of the food and the service was impeccable, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious, fresh meal.
