Fans of trains may already be well aware that a certain iconic locomotive is celebrating its centenary year throughout 2023. 

As the Flying Scotsman marks its 100th anniversary, the train is most famous for its service from London to Edinburgh as well as for being the first locomotive for London and North Eastern Railway (LNER)

Now as the locomotive celebrates a historic milestone, the public is encouraged to take a ride on the service with it offering of special trips across the country. 

This includes a handful of trips from London, organised by The Railway Touring Company. 

Many of the trips and events for the Flying Scotsman are now fully booked with a waiting list in operation, but you can still head down to the station to catch a glimpse of the impressive train. 

When you can see the Flying Scotsman in London 2023

  • The Cardiff Express, Wednesday, June 7: London to Cardiff
  • The Cheshireman, Saturday, June 10: London to Chester
  • The Portsmouth Flyer, Saturday, June 17: London to Portsmouth
  • The Salisbury Express, Wednesday, June 21: London to Salisbury
  • The Great Yarmouth Flyer, Saturday, June 24: London to Great Yarmouth
  • The Flying Scotsman Centenary Weekender, Friday 30th June to Tuesday 4th July: London to Edinburgh tour

Many of the trips and events for the Flying Scotsman are now fully booked with a waiting list in operation, however, you can join the lists via the website.

Prices vary depending on the trip but for day trips rates start at £165 for standard and rise to £335 per person for premier. 

If you are hoping to get a spot on the Flying Scotsman Centenary Weekender, prices start at £1175 and rise to £2225.

But you can still head down to the station to catch a glimpse of the impressive train.
