Southeastern has issued advice to rail passengers travelling on Wednesday, February 1 and Friday, February 3 after rail union ASLEF announced new strike dates.

The company says that passengers who purchased an advance, anytime or off-peak ticket for travel on these strike days can use the ticket on the day before the affected strike day or up to and including Tuesday, February 7.

The option of claiming a refund is also available to passengers if the train they intended to travel on is cancelled, delayed or re-scheduled.

Southeastern will continue to run a normal timetable on the days either side of the strikes.

If a passengers’ outward journey is only affected by the strike action and their return journey is not, then they are still eligible for a refund for both their outward and return tickets.

Passengers with an advance ticket for a train which is cancelled, delayed or re-scheduled can return their ticket to the original retailer and they will be given an e-Voucher, which can then be used to purchase a future ticket.

However, passengers should be aware these vouchers are only valid 12 months from the date of issue.

Those with two advance tickets, an outward and a return, can claim a fee-free refund or a change of journey for any used tickets.

Season ticket holders can use the delay repay option to claim a day of travel back if they do not travel on the strike days.

They must put the reason for the delay as ‘Industrial Action- did not travel’.

Weekly season ticket holders and flexi ticket holders can also receive delay repay if they choose not to travel on these dates.

More information and journey planners will be available on January 25.
