THE fourth and final round of the colour print competition, which would determine the season's winners, was judged by Andy Smith.
The competition was staged in three classes, each of which demonstrated work of a very high standard, with no member getting marks below 7 out of 10.
In Class 3, three competitors achieved the top mark of 10. One of these was Tracey Elvidge with Bubbles on the Beach, a lovely cascade of bubbles caught with sharpness. Martin Bales entered a petal-like abstract array. Very striking was Mick Brown's image of an apple being unzipped to reveal an orange.
There were three 10s also in Class 2. Tony Seppings scored with a set of twist drills. Peter Radford's The Midnight Sun showed amazing light. And the pattern on Sylvia Sobernheim's gnarled tree trunk had a real feel of motion.
In Class 1 Alan Parkinson's study of a peacock was cropped close to bring out the detail of the colours. Peter Humphrey's Glencoe was full of atmosphere, with moody cloud bubbling up over the valley.
The winners were Alan Parkinson in Class 1, Tony Seppings in Class 2 and Martin Bales in Class 3.
The society meets on Tuesday evenings at Christ Church, Charterhouse Road, Orpington.
