A VOLUNTEER group working to protect badgers is celebrating a cash boost from the national lottery.
The West Kent Badger Group (WKBG), which consists of 30 volunteers, received a grant of £2,892 from the Lottery Awards for All scheme yesterday (Mar10).
The group, which has been protecting badgers for 24 years, says it will use the money to purchase equipment for educational presentations meaning it can publicise the importance of its work more easily.
Group chairman, Alex Hills, said: "The award will enable presentations to be tailored more easily to different groups and organisations.
"We have done talks and presentations for many years to groups including garden clubs, schools, youth groups, local history groups and virtually any other group you can think of.
"Badgers are important creatures as they help keep nature in balance and yet are rarely seen alive."
