RESIDENTS of Greenwich received the lowest council tax increase in the Capital, maintaining its record of setting the lowest almost anywhere in the country in the last 10 years.
Set at 1.97 per cent, this year's increase equates to an extra 36p a week for an average band D property.
Greenwich council has declared 1.25 per cent of the rise will be spent on additional police teams to deal with the growing violence among young people, which residents voiced as their biggest concern.
The remainder will finance improvements to street cleaning and recycling programmes.
