A FORMER mayor has found himself in court for the second time in two months - this time for causing criminal damage.
Frank Gibson, of Windmill Street, Gravesend, brushed paint onto the wing of a driving instructor's car after the driver refused to move off double yellow lines on a narrow road.
He pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage when he appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court on March 5 and was given a six-month conditional discharge.
He was also ordered to pay £100 costs and £23.50 for the removal of the paint from the Vauxhall Corsa.
The incident happened on October 14, 2006, when the former Gravesham mayor was painting his garage door, which opens onto Sheppey Place.
Speaking after the case, the 82-year-old said: "It was a very fair hearing. I accept I shouldn't have done it but I didn't realise it was criminally wrong."
The court appearance followed a separate case dealt with on January 22 where the former councillor was found guilty of assaulting two police officers.
