THE community in Welling has been learning more about Fairtrade, its principles and the goods it can supply.
Fairtrade Fortnight spurred Welling Methodist Church in Bellegrove Road, Welling, a committed Fairtrade church, to stage a coffee morning in which people could buy goods certified by the organisation.
Some of the products were donated by the Co-op and Marks & Spencer from their own Fairtrade ranges.
Fair trade organisation Traidcraft items were also on sale.
The Fairtrade mark gives buyers a guarantee the producers from developing countries receive a fair price. It appears on more than 850 different food products This covers their production costs, plus a premium which is then invested in community needs, such as clean water, healthcare and education.
