THREE sporting venues around the borough have been shortlisted as possible training centres for the 2012 Olympics in London.

Kent County Cricket Club's Beckenham training ground, the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, and Sydenham High School, Westwood Hill, have been listed in an official guide for teams preparing for the Games.

It means they could all be hosting top athletes when the event comes around.

While Crystal Palace can host a range of disciplines, including swimming, athletics, boxing and badminton, those going to the cricket club would practise archery and the school would host tennis training.

In total, the guide lists 600 venues nationwide, and 96 in London which can be used for training purposes.

While it does not guarantee teams coming to London for the Olympics will use the sites, it provides a guide for them to use.
