A care support service in Sidcup has been rated as "inadequate" after an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Parkhill Support service, located in Greenwood Close, was rated “inadequate” with the service “not safe” and “not well-led”.

The support service received the rating in an inspection on March 17, 2022.

The report said that the service was rated inadequate as it was not able to demonstrate how it was meeting the principles of "Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture.”

This guidance is followed by CQC to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with learning disabilities and autism.

The CQC mentioned that medicines were not safely managed in a way that ensured it was effective and achieved the best possible health outcomes.

The report also said that people were not supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives.

The support service staff have not received support through training, supervision, and meetings to ensure they had the knowledge and skills to meet people's needs, according to the report.

The healthcare watchdog also said that exceptional circumstances were considered as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The service also required improvements in how effective, how caring, and how responsive it is.

This service was registered with CQC on March 30, 2020, and it was the first inspection to take place.

CQC will meet with the service following the report to discuss how they will make changes to ensure they improve their rating to at least good.
