CRIME in Bromley over Christmas fell when compared to the same period in 2006.
The figures for crime in the borough from December 20 last year to January 2 saw burglary offences fall from 63 to 60, and incidents of robbery fall from 36 to 17 between the two periods.
Thefts of motor vehicles fell from 42 to 28, and thefts from motor vehicles from 104 to 90.
Incidents of criminal damage fell from 185 to 144, and common assaults fell from 48 to 41.
Inspector Andy Johnstone, who heads Bromley Police's safer neighbourhood teams, said: "These figures are very encouraging.
"Crimes such as burglary, robbery and criminal damage concern our local community, but the police and our partners have been working hard over the Christmas and New Year period to tackle these problems.
"Over this period our officers provided high visibility patrols, both on foot and in vehicles, and we were able to deal robustly with any offences we observed."
"Bromley is a great borough and has a lot to offer people who want to visit the borough or who want an evening out.
"My message to anyone who plans to spend an evening in one of our town centres is that drunken and anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated, and those who commit crimes will be arrested and dealt with swiftly."
