A 12-YEAR-OLD boy has died after being knocked down by a car in Gravesend.

Police have confirmed the boy's name is Luke Squires.

Emergency services were called just after 3pm yesterday to the incident in Leander Drive.

The Thamesview School pupil was taken to Darent Valley Hospital but was later transfered to King's College Hospital, London.

He died late last night.

Housewife Tanya Gisby said she heard the bang and saw Luke rolling back and forward.

The 38-year-old held his hand and talked to him to keep him calm.

She said: "There wasn't blood anywhere apart from a little bit from his nose."

At 4.10pm an ambulance took him away.

Police officers were in the road doing skid tests last night.

A bunch of flowers was left at the scene.

It read: "To Luke rest in peace babe, you are always in our hearts, lots of love Lauren Ludlow and Chelsea Carter".
