A £13m scheme will see more than 30km of water mains being replaced.
Thames Water is to replace 150-year-old cast iron mains pipes, running through an area including Blackheath and Charlton, with modern plastic pipes.
Work started last November and a drop-in session will be held at Charlton House, Charlton Road, between 4pm and 7pm on January 10 for residents to find out more.
Thames Water project manager Steve Chapman said: "We appreciate work of this nature does bring disruption, but this huge investment will bring benefits to the area for years as we should not have to carry out repairs here in the future."
