GRIEVING friends and relatives visiting the spot where three teenagers were killed in a car crash are being offered a retreat to come to terms with their loss.

St Luke's Church, in Charlton, is opening its doors tonight so people leaving tributes at the scene of the crash in Little Heath can go somewhere warm.

Reverend Bennett Spong said: "It's an opportunity for them to come into the church and sit quietly, light candles and pray.

"We are just doing it to give them some space. It's a bit wintery, and standing out at the bus stop is cold.

"We did it last night and had a few people and we'll do it again tonight (Thurs).

"We are the closest church. We feel we should do something."

Yesterday around a dozen people visited the church, which is opposite Charlton House. It will be open from 6pm to 9pm this evening.

Amy Curran, aged 15, of Raeburn Road, Sidcup, Joe Wallis, aged 18, of Dallin Road, Shooters Hill, and Georgina Fox, aged 16, of Elibank Road, Eltham, were killed in the crash.

The accident happened when the Peugeot 206 the teenagers were travelling in, driven by Joe, collided with a bendy bus at around 6.30am on New Year's Day.
