AS LANDFILL sites are filling up could this government use all the rubbish to build aircraft runways into the seas as they did in Hong Kong.
If they were to build such runways at the mouth of the Thames there are already rail links into London.
There is also an airport at Shoreham on the coast of Sussex which could be extended into the sea. Then the rail link from London to Brighton could be extended to Shoreham.
This would cancel the need for a fourth runway at Heathrow, cut the pollution in the air over London and surrounding areas, and cut the need to destroy villages and communities.
It would also cut the chances of terrorists bringing down planes landing at London airport while flying over Thamesmead.
The present talk of paying extra taxes to have household rubbish cleared will only encourage flytipping which is on the increase.
