MAY I use your columns to update our supporters of the Council Tax Action Group (CTAG) as to what is currently ongoing in the background.
Firstly may I thank the Bucks Free Press for its marvellous coverage of our cause over the last two months. The Bucks County Council Pension Scheme continues to under perform, losing two per cent between March 2001 and March 2002. Over the next two years the scheme needs to grow by an average of 11.5 per cent otherwise we can expect another levy on our council tax in 2004 whilst we are still paying the first one.
1. As per the unanimous mandate by the members of the Amersham and District Residents Association, we ask all local communities to turn out and support our 15 minute protest on Saturday, June 29 at 11am on the green outside the offices of CDC in King George V Avenue. We will be delivering 6,000 leaflets announcing the protest over the next few weeks.
2. We are finalising our legal challenge against BCC in that it has failed in its 'duty of care' to the electorate in its management of the Pension Scheme.
3. We continue to lobby our MP, Cheryl Gillan, to raise in the House of Commons the problem of council taxes being increased to subsidise and prop up the under performing BCC Pension Scheme.
4. We are seeking volunteers who have time on their side to take on administrative roles such as collating our supporters details. Please email me on enquiries@tfmg.co.uk or call me 01494-434555.
As all the above issues develop we will publish the outcomes.
