Four fire crews were called to a campervan on fire in Hither Green which was at risk of explosion.

The fire broke out in the van, which was parked on Hither Green Lane, at 4.37pm on Monday afternoon.

Twenty-one firefighters from Lewisham, Lee Green, Greenwich and Forest Hill all attended the fire.

While trying to put out the flames, two propane cylinders had to be cooled and removed from the van as they could have exploded due to the heat.

No injuries were reported in the fire, which was brought under control by 5.35pm, but the campervan has been damaged.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
