Some of Britain's funniest actors have spent the day filming at a newly opened Indian restaurant in Beckenham.

Simon Bird, famous for his role as Will McKenzie in The Inbetweeners, is making his directorial film debut with Days of the Bagnold Summer.

The film features Gavin and Stacey star Rob Brydon and Tamsin Greig (Jackie from Friday Night Dinner), who both recorded scenes in Beckenham's Chokha on Wednesday (September 12).

Indian restaurant Chokha opened on Bromley Road three months ago and the management team said they were thrilled to host some scenes.

They said: "We were delighted to be approached and be the location for part of the film as we love all of Simon’s work. Chokha looks forward to welcoming all guests, old and new to come and enjoy the restaurant, and Beckenham’s jewel Chokha Indian will now be famous worldwide.

"A mini follow-up video was made straight after the filming showcasing the restaurant, though it’s not in the film-maker's league, and we’re pleased to share a shot of behind-the-scenes footage."

The film is about the tensions between a heavy metal loving teenager and his librarian mother who must spend the summer together after his trip to Florida was cancelled.

It is based on the novel by Matthew James Wilkinson.
