A Swanley couple has been served a High Court injunction after they made preparations to put an illegal caravan site on their land.

Mark and Lucy Hilden, of Park Lane Farm, were called to an emergency hearing on September 5.

Officers form Sevenoaks Council had visited the greenbelt site at Wood Street in Swanley to find about 1,000 square metres of concrete had been laid.

They also found electrical points had been installed, as well as a water supply and a cesspit - but no planning applications had been submitted to the council.

The injunction bans people from taking caravans onto the site, and prevents any other structures from being built.

If the couple breaches the injunction, they could be charged with contempt of court which could land them a two-year prison sentence.

The council is now working with the couple to move the concrete from the site.

Cllr Robert Piper said: “Once again the work of our officers has resulted in stopping an unauthorised development and helping to protect the District and another example of our determination to protect our greenbelt.

“The council is committed to working with landowners and ensuring planning law is enforced but as this example shows, we are also not afraid to take those who fail to work with us through the courts.”
