Summer holidays are being organised for senior citizens from Borehamwood and Elstree.

Coach trips to popular seaside towns such as Southend, Eastbourne, Bournemouth, Great Yarmouth and Brighton are being organised by Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council, and everyone aged 60 or over is invited.

Trips to the Cotswolds and Norwich are also being arranged, and a special trip to Rochester is being organised for the town's Dickens Day celebrations.

Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council's entertainments officer Paul Welsh said around 1,000 people took advantage of the coach outings every year, and there was room for more.

"The outings represent very good value, and they are very relaxed in that you are dropped off and left to do whatever you like until the coach is due to leave again."

Tickets for this year's outings will cost around £4, and will go on sale from May 10, to be purchased from the council's offices at Fairway Hall on weekday mornings, from 9am until 12noon.
