Motorists are being warned that the road in the Essex area of the M25 is closed to allow for a recovery operation after a lorry crashed down an embankment.

The road between J27 and J25 has been closed for hours after the crash at around 7pm yesterday evening.

Highways England say the lorry, which was left hanging over the River Lea embankment, is loaded with flammable materials.

Recovery work was delayed until this morning to minimise the risk of the task.

The M25 will likely be shut off for rush hour and will be back open once the lorry is recovered.
