Revised plans to turn an office in Sidcup into a block of flats have been submitted.

Developers want to build four apartments in Main Road, eight months after permission for an alternative scheme was granted.

Following an appeal in January, permission was given for nine apartments but the applicant now wants to drop the number of flats to four.

Bexley Council initially threw out plans over fears the apartments would intrude on neighbouring gardens, as well as it constituting over development.

According to planning documents: “The applicant wishes to significantly improve the accommodation and living space of the converted units of the main two-storey building to comply with the National Space Standards.

“In order to accommodate this, the proposals involve the introduction of a flat top dormer section to the side and rear elevation of the building.”

The application is now for four self-contained apartments, and for the demolition of outbuildings and garages.

Developers said in their application: “We feel that the proposals should be acceptable in planning policy terms and provide much needed residential accommodation to the area that fully complies with the current Space Standards.”

The plans are being considered by planning officers at the council.
