A convicted drug dealer has been ordered to pay back more than £8,000 from the proceeds of his crime.

Stefan Watson is six months into jail sentence of four years and three months for supplying cocaine and cannabis in Gravesend.

On August 16 a confiscation hearing at Maidstone Crown Court ordered 29-year-old Watson to pay £8,235 under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Watson, formerly of Lilburne Gardens in Eltham, was arrested in William Street in Gravesend on November 7 last year after patrols became suspicious of a black Mercedes.

Officers found nine bags of cannabis inside the car and a further 13 wraps of cocaine in Watson’s possession.

He pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply, obstructing a constable and dangerous driving.

If Watson does not pay the confiscation order within 28 days his sentence will be increased by another four months.

Detective Inspector Annie Clayton, from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: “Criminals are not entitled to the money they have illegally gained and we will do everything in our power to ensure they are unable to benefit from offending.

“The money will now be put back into the criminal justice system and will be used to protect and serve the communities Watson sought to exploit.”
