Plans to rebuild Littlebrook Power Station have been submitted for approval, after the old plant was demolished.

The existing station in Dartford has been slowly destroyed in a series of controlled explosions over the last few months.

Parts 'A' and 'B' of the site have been demolished so far, with further demolitions scheduled to take down the rest of the site.

Now details of the 400kV substation that will replace Littlebrook have been revealed.

The new site will comprise of a main hall of 57.8m x 16.6m, and an annex which will sit alongside it, and two smaller-scale buildings just south of the main hall.

It will also hold five 'super grid transformers', which are the same size as the huge transformer that made its way over the Dartford Crossing at the weekend.

The whole area will be fenced off much like the current Littlebrook site, with groundwork to be completed in the surrounding area.

According to the planning application, building of the site will have a "very low" impact on traffic in the area.

The application also states a new site should be built where the remainder of Littlebrook currently stands because it will "minimise the amount of new infrastructure" needed.
