Shaun Williams believes Swansea City’s trip to Millwall will be an “eye-opener” for them – particularly for players who have never been at the Den before.

The 31-year-old scored and assisted another as Millwall picked up their first win in the Championship this season after their 2-1 victory over Derby County.

But he was unimpressed with the Swans’ performance in their goalless draw with Birmingham City, with a visit to south-east London on the cards in September.

Williams said: “I watched them on TV last night and I don’t think they should be looking to overachieve and get back to Premier League because they weren’t any great shakes last night.

“It’ll be a different game for them when they come down to the Den, and they have a lot of young boys who haven’t played here before.

“It’ll be an eye-opener for them.”

Millwall have now picked up five points from a possible nine in their opening three Championship fixtures this campaign following the win over Derby.

For some of the Rams’ players, the trip to the Den proved to be tough territory – particularly for Jayden Bogle, 18, and Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori, 20.

Williams added: “[The Den] is not a nice ground to come and make your debut at, and I think the right back was making his Football League debut.

“He was in for it today.”

Asked whether there were plans specifically for either Bogle or Tomori, he smiled and said, “You never know”.
