A bus driver has been praised for helping an elderly lady who was accidentally travelling the wrong way.
One of the passengers on the 208 from Lewisham to Orpington told News Shopper the driver overheard a conversation which indicated the woman was not on the right bus.
The passenger, who witnessed the heart-warming moment on August 10, said: “Without being asked, the driver took control of what was probably quite a daunting situation for the lady.”
She said the driver flagged down another bus before holding the woman's hand, crossing the road with her and making sure his colleague knew where she was heading.
“He then returned to the bus and apologised for the delay,” the passenger said. “He was a real gent and went above and beyond.
“I think we should be celebrating people who go above and beyond in our community.”
